multi-channel video installation (30 minutes) CARPARK, meanjin (brisbane), february 2024 the buds on the trees and the night were still curates objects from the artist's past and present to show a linear transition from historical, cultural, social, political and economic epochs, which shape the work and domestic environment that he has inherited while also calling to mind the nonlinear, or disjunctive relationships between objects and the codes and values they are associated with, historically. the installation brings together relics from his childhood home and his father's unfinished/abandoned projects together with objects, video and sound recordings from underneath the share house in which he currently lives. metalwork and 'man spaces' and the hinted relationships of domesticity and sexuality are reinterpreted by the artist. to subject who was shaped by, and within the social and material structures that exist in, and have always existed in, in varying states of specificity-of-function (or completion, or perfection), and reflect contemporary social conditions and choices. memo review by amelia barikin
